Scalability Architect and Technology Operations
This was an exciting project that I worked with the Varoqua group to build. What's amazing was the scale and compressed timeline. We served extreme traffic over a very short event based time frame and put the entire project together start to finish in approximately 9 days! The original system scale requirements were 30,000, which we and load tested well above prior to the event, concurrent sessions and it needed to be able to scale horizontally with the ability to update the code and database on demand during peak times. I chose the Rackspace Cloud for this particular deployment and we used a combination of technologies such as Ruby, Sinatra, Redis, Memcached, and more to get the job done.
