GigaSpaces Goes Free for Certain Projects

This is really interesting because they have a cool platform.  I haven't tried it much because I haven't been doing the kind of work that requires something like it for a while.  But, this new free version and an Amazon EC2 AMI really are making me want to give it another spin.  Begs the question though, what's the price after you hit $5 million because then, you'll have to pay to keep playing or migrate your application elsewhere.  So, I think I'll still look before I leap!  It's Java based for the interested.

Kent --

Nothing happens when you reach $5 million in revenues. You can keep using the product for free. The $5 million is only the cut-off for who qualifies in the first place.

More info on this here.

Hi Geva, thank you for the clarification.

Am I correct in saying that the free-for-start-up programme is only available for companies that want to use gigaspaces internally? For example if I were a company with revenue less than $5million dollars but wanted to develop an application using gigaspaces for external use I would not qualify?

Thanks

@amin I don't think that is the case. I'm pretty sure you'd qualify. But, I forwarded your question to people I know at Gigaspaces who will hopefully answer definitively for you.

Thanks for your reply. It seems strange that the free-start up programme would only apply to developing applications for company internal use. A majority of start up companies would presumbly want to use gigaspaces to develop applications so that external customers can use...
